Pastor John Edgar

Our pastor since 2002 has been John Edgar. He preaches Sunday morning and evening, leads Sunday School, and our midweek meetings. He is happy to speak to inquirers. He has served as president of the Reformed Presbyterian Church’s Home Mission Board and White Lake Camp, and has served the local neighborhood as a co-chair of the McKinley Civic Association.

Prior to becoming our pastor, he taught middle-school mathematics in Hatfield, PA, high-school math and history in Philadelphia, and various math, history and religion courses for Peirce College in Philadelphia. He graduated from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia in 2002, having already earned degrees from Swarthmore College and Temple University. In 2023 he earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

How We Govern

An open and accountable church

The congregation calls its own pastor and elects its elders and deacons to a permanent office. There is a congregational meeting on the last Saturday in January to hear reports from the pastor, elders, treasurer, and deacons; to approve a budget for the year; and to deal with any other business.

Presbyterian church government is open and accountable. Our authority is the Bible — not tradition or a group of self-appointed men.
